Miles, the holy fairy and guardian of the phantom planet, gets kidnapped by some evil space pirates. However, just before he is taken away, he manages to give his guardian stone, the phantom gem, to his son Monta. This phantom gem contains magical powers and shows Monta the way to his father. It leads him to the independent spaceship Seers. Tired and fragile after his long jouney, Monta gets looked after by the friendly creature Sai. To thank Sai, Monta lends him his magic gem.
